Meet Our GM - Theresa Merli
Q: What makes the Poconos area a unique vacation destination?
A: This beautiful, four-season area is within driving distance of most major East coast cities. Our natural areas, including the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and many state and local parks, are a HUGE draw for folks living in the northeast metropolitan areas including New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia. In addition to our beautiful natural areas, this region is "teeming" with history and offers year-round cultural tours (including wine tours) and art exhibitions. We additionally boast abundant antiquing, name-brand shopping (i.e. The Crossings), casinos and fabulous local dining, as well as a full calendar of festivals showcasing the heritage, music and food of the Pocono Mountains!
Q: How long have you been the GM at Woodfield Manor?
A: October 2013
Q: What is your favorite area restaurant?
A: I have two number one favorites - The Frogtown Chophouse and Cook’s Corner. Both offer fresh, creative, homemade food (versus franchise, standard food) at reasonable prices with friendly service.
Q: If you could only choose one local attraction that is a must-see, what would it be?
A: I would choose the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, first, with Bushkill Falls a close second. Ugh! And then, there is also the towns of Jim Thorpe and Milford, both of which are just delightful!
Q: What is your background in the hospitality industry?
A: In one way or another, I have been in the hospitality business (customer service) for over 30 years. Nothing gives me more personal pleasure then making sure that our guests have a wonderful experience at Woodfield Manor and the Poconos.
Q: What is your favorite room at Woodfield Manor and why?
A: Unit #14 – there is just something about this room that appeals to me. I am a sucker for a king-sized bed and the view of the pool from the living room is just lovely.
Q: What makes Woodfield Manor different from surrounding hotels?
A: Woodfield is more like a "country inn" than a resort. It has a history dating back over 200 years, having been a vacation destination for folks from the metro areas for over 100 years. It is off the "beaten track" but in the center of the Pocono attraction area. It is just a sweet place!
